Hezen

Born: Paris, France
Lives: London, UK

Sarah Hezen is a French award-winning music producer and singer/songwriter, based in London. With Caribbean & East European Jewish origins, she grew up outside Paris with a family history of displacement, resistance & resilience. Self-taught, she began writing and producing songs as a young teenager.

She moved to London in 2010, and a couple of feats for some DnB heavyweights later (her collab ‘I Saw You’ with Black Sun Empire racks over 2M streams on Spotify), she released 2 EPs as HEZEN, showcasing her darkly evocative vision and scifi aesthetics, exploring female empowerment & mental health, identity & power structures, between the personal & the political. In 2021 she crafted an experimental R&B production for GLOR1A’s ‘Cracked Out Dreams’ (Invisible Records), and released ‘So We Happen’, a futuristic track exploring the border between beauty and violence in the process of reconnection with her Carribean heritage.

In February 2022, her song ‘The Girl You Want’ will feature in episode 2 of Chloe, a BBC One & Amazon Prime Video thriller written and directed by Alice Seabright (Sex Education).
